Bio

  • Raised in Springfield, Mo. My roots in the Ozarks go back to the 1830s
  • Started playing guitar in 1973
  • Influenced by Merle Travis, Chet Atkins, George Barnes, Wes Montgomery, Django Reinhardt, Les Paul, Eldon Shamblin, Eddie Lang, and Dick McDonough.
  • Studied Jazz at Middle Tennessee State University
  • Studied Communication at Missouri State University
  • Graduated from Missouri State University with a Bachelor of General Studies degree
  • Performed in rock, jazz, blues, and country bands
  • Performed on stage with Eddie Pennington, Duck Baker, Steve Kaufman, Merle Travis, and many other musicians
  • Perform in the trio, “83 Skidoo”
  • Teach, perform, moderate, and judge at the Merle Travis Weekend in Mountain View, AR.
  • Finalist in two national thumbpicking championships
  • Springfield has been my home since childhood – with the exception of four years spent in Nashville for college
  • I’m married and have two children
